Cape Country Careers Program Launch
We are excited to announce the launch of our Cape Country Careers Program! This program is designed to provide high school students, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) students, and disengaged youth with immersive career exploration opportunities.
Exploring Careers Through Virtual Reality
Utilising cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR) technology, including Meta Quest 3 headsets, participants can explore over 30 Queensland-based careers through the Work Window app. This innovative approach allows students to experience various professions in a highly engaging and interactive way.
Supporting Regional and Remote Communities
The program is proudly funded by the Regional, Rural and Remote Education Program (RRRRP), ensuring access to quality career education for remote communities. We offer flexible learning options, including classroom sessions and visits to our centre.
Engaging Elders as Community Influencers
In addition to working with students, we’ve also had the privilege of hosting VR sessions with our local 60 & Better elders. As respected community influencers, their engagement with the program not only provides them with an exciting new experience but also helps inspire and guide younger generations in exploring career pathways.
Bringing Career Education to Local Schools
So far, we have successfully implemented this program for students from Cooktown High, Endeavour Christian College, Holy Spirit School, and the Coen and Wujal Wujal community. With the support of our elders and community leaders, we look forward to expanding the program and reaching more students in the coming year.
